Our Story

Winnow Technology is an innovative sustainability focused, product comparison app, transforming our understanding of household cleaning products.

Founded by a dedicated environmental advocate and female founder, the idea for Winnow was born out of her struggle to comprehend the impact of her purchases. 

Living with housemates continually highlighted the divide in opinions on shared essentials, with some prioritising specific ingredients, others avoiding plastic packaging, and some focusing on cost and quality. It became clear that navigating these conversations was no easy feat!

The inconsistency in product labelling and price comparisons left many feeling frustrated and powerless to find products that matched their values, making it hard to make collective decisions. 

Fuelled by a determination to create a simple, accessible solution, the first year of the business was all about diving deep into research to uncover the strengths and weaknesses of current sustainability solutions and impact assessment methodologies.

What we discovered was eye-opening: the lack of clear and digestible information was causing confusion, misinformation, and in the worst examples; greenwashing and green-hushing in a rapidly growing market. This fragmentation shapes our choices and exacerbates a disconnect between our intentions and actions.
