Our Mission
Winnow Technology exists to replace sustainability guesswork with environmental truth.
We're building the technology that automates Life Cycle Assessment — the only globally accepted methodology for measuring a product's real environmental impact, from raw material creation through to disposal — whilst making it accessible at the individual product level.
Our platform doesn't just measure carbon. It assesses all recognised environmental impact categories, from water toxicity to resource depletion, using the European Commission's Product Environmental Footprint (PEF) framework.
Then, we go further.
Most environmental assessments assume products are used perfectly and disposed of correctly. We know reality is different and we account for this too.
People overdose their laundry detergent.
Recycling rates vary wildly between postcodes.
Our methodology accounts for how products are actually used and disposed of in the real world.
For brands, this means verifiable environmental credentials that stand up to regulatory scrutiny.
For everyday people, it means the ability to finally compare products based on real environmental science, not vague marketing claims.

Why Now
Three forces are converging that make this the defining moment for environmental transparency.
Regulation is Arriving
The EU's Green Claims Directive will make unsubstantiated sustainability marketing claims illegal. Digital Product Passports will require verifiable environmental data for products sold in European markets. Companies need defensible data and most have no way to get it.
Consumer Trust is Eroding
People care more than ever about sustainability, but confidence in brand claims is at an all-time low. There's enormous demand for transparency, but no infrastructure to deliver it at scale.
Technology's Evolving
Advances in AI and data integration mean we can now automate what previously required months of expensive manual consultant work. The environmental databases exist. The behavioural data exists. What's been missing is the middleware to connect them in real time.
How It Started
Winnow Technology started with a question that wouldn't go away: why is it so hard to understand the real environmental impact of the products we buy?
Why can two brands both claim to be sustainable with no way to measure how much?
And why, even at home, is it so difficult to have open conversations about the impact of everyday choices we make together?
Our founder spent over a year researching the problem, testing solutions, and training in data science along the way. After more than a decade in enterprise business development, closing software contracts worth multi-millions, she had learned what was required to build multi-faceted software systems that work at scale.
Winnow Technology didn't come from a boardroom strategy session. It came from frustration, curiosity, and the relentless belief that people deserve access to better information.
